Connecting Google Drive
Step-by-step guide to connecting your Google Drive to DreamSolve.
Prerequisites
- A Google account
- Files you want to access in Google Drive
Connection Steps
Step 1: Open Settings
- Click Settings in the DreamSolve menu bar
- Navigate to the Integrations or External Credentials section
Step 2: Initiate Connection
- Find the Google Drive section
- Click Connect Google Drive
- A Google sign-in window opens
Step 3: Sign In and Authorize
- Select your Google account (or sign in)
- Review the permissions requested:
- See and download your Google Drive files
- See basic profile information
- Click Allow
Step 4: Verify Connection
- Return to DreamSolve
- The connection should show as active
- Test by opening File Management on any node
Using Google Drive Files
Browsing Files
- Open a node's File Management dialog
- Go to the Google Drive tab
- Use search to find files
- Browse results and preview details
Attaching Files
- Find the file you want
- Click Add next to the file
- The file appears in your node's Files list
- Access it anytime from the Files tab
Supported File Types
Google Drive integration works with:
- Documents (Google Docs, Word, PDF)
- Spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel)
- Presentations (Google Slides, PowerPoint)
- Images and media files
- Any file stored in Drive
How Files Are Accessed
When you attach a Google Drive file:
- DreamSolve stores a reference (not a copy)
- Files are accessed in real-time
- Changes in Drive are reflected immediately
- Your Drive storage isn't affected
Multiple Accounts
You can connect multiple Google accounts:
- Each account appears in the dropdown
- Select which account to browse
- Files from any connected account can be attached
Security Notes
- DreamSolve uses OAuth 2.0 for secure access
- Your Google password is never shared
- Only you can see your Drive files
- Revoke access anytime from Google settings
Troubleshooting
Can't Find Files
- Ensure the file is in your Drive (not just shared with you)
- Try different search terms
- Check you're searching the right account
- Verify file isn't in Trash
Connection Expired
Google tokens expire periodically:
- Go to Settings
- Find your Google Drive connection
- Click Refresh or reconnect
Permission Denied
If you see permission errors:
- The file owner may have restricted sharing
- Ask for edit or view access
- Try re-authorizing DreamSolve
Disconnecting
To remove Google Drive access:
From DreamSolve:
- Go to Settings
- Find the Google account
- Click Disconnect
From Google:
- Go to Google Account Security
- Third-party apps with account access
- Find DreamSolve and remove access
Tips
- Keep important project files in a dedicated folder
- Use consistent naming for easy searching
- Share Drive folders with team members for collaboration
- Regularly review and clean up attached files
